8 best ways to manage and boost your mood naturally

Hello friends! Today we are going to talk about the major issue related our mood. Mood swings can be those swings which can affect your behavior. There is no one who faced the situations when their mood is not in control. The mood swings can lead you in a positive direction or in a negative direction as well. It is totally depend on the person. It can motivate or demotivate you. Why is it happen?? What are the causes behind this?? Can one control over this? Can we manage our mood swings?? To answer above these questions. Initially we need, to know the meaning of ‘MOOD’ and ‘MOOD SWINGS’.

Mood is not kind of emotions, feelings or affect. Infact mood is an emotional state which are not so intensive in nature and less likely to be affected by a stimulus or a particular event. Mood is an emotional state which can be last long for some hours,days and for some month also. Mood can’t be considered as personality trait and temperament. Mood swings is an extreme or rapid change in mood. Such mood swings can play a positive role in solving the problems. Duration of mood swings differ from place to place and time to time. Mood swings can extend over many days. They may consist feelings of depression & euphoria which changes.

There are so many causes that mood swings happen.

(i) Lack of sleep

      A good sleep for everyone is most important. Those people who don’t sleep well get irritated easily. They are more likely fatigued.

(ii)  Unhealthy Diet

         Deficiencies of nutritional food can lead to bad mood. Skipping meals causes an imbalance in blood sugar level. Consuming too much caffeine, sugar or fatty food at night before bad cause’s sleepiness.

(iii)  Substance Abuse

        Those who are addicted to drugs, smoke or alcohol find unexpected mood swings. They most of the time remain depressed and angry.

There are some psychiatric disorders that causes mood swings such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD), bipolar disorder, Borderline personality Disorder(BPD),depression, Chemical Imbalance etc.

Now, how can we manage our mood swings? There are some ways to manage mood swings.

  1. Be optimistic.

    Mood swings are often related to bad things or expectations of bad out comes. If you think positively like all the good or positive or possible outcomes instead of worst possibilities.

  1. Avoid overthinking.

   Avoid over thinking and overgeneralizing the situation. Even it should be accepted as it is. Suppose you had a bad interaction on a date. Then maybe you will thinking that I can never find love. This kind of thinking make you upset. Instead of this thought remind yourself of all the success you have whether it is your love life or work life and you will be able to calm yourself.

  1. Learn to laugh at yourself.

    Make yourself happy by doing those things which make you happy. Do not get embarrass if the things not working as you think.

  1. Do some physical exercise.

   By doing exercise helps to control over your body and mind as well. You can do yoga, dancing, swimming, aerobics and all those things which required physical work.

  1. Spend time with your friends and family.

   Share your views and problems with those persons who you trust most. Ask them for advice which may help you to solve your problem.

  1. Get enough sleep and avoid too much alcohol and drugs.

At least take 6 to 8 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep may let you become lazy, irritated and lethargic person. Do not take too much alcohol and drugs. Keep their intake to a minimum level. Drinking alcohol just before going to bed make you restless so avoid intake of alcohol during bed time.

     7. Sunlight

Natural sunlight is a free and available mood enhancer. It encourages us to produce vitamin D and protects us from seasonal mood changes.

     8.  Music

Listening to music can lift or boost your mood and ultimately lead to a greater quality of life.
